Associate Development Officer
Nevada Policy Research Institute
Las Vegas, NV

The Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI) seeks a Development Officer to execute a significant portion of the Institute’s fundraising strategy and activities. The Development Officer will work in coordination with the Institute’s president, with an emphasis placed on major gifts management and solicitation. Qualified candidates must have a passionate commitment to fundraising and will have the skills and experience required to meet the Institute’s fundraising goals. Fundraising experience is not a prerequisite, but self-motivation, a willingness to learn and lead and a record of achievements are. This position is one that allows for growth and personal development.

NPRI is a non-partisan, non-profit think tank that promotes policy ideas consistent with the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free markets. Recognized as the leading free-market voice in Nevada, NPRI’s primary areas of focus are education, fiscal and labor policy, with the goal of advancing free-market principles in each. Additionally, NPRI operates the Center for Justice and Constitutional Litigation, TransparentNevada.com, TransparentCalifornia.com, National Employee Freedom Week and Nevada Journal. NPRI has offices in Las Vegas and Reno. The Development Officer will be based in Las Vegas and must be willing to travel to Reno, rural Nevada and California when necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • On behalf of NPRI’s president, solicit and secure major gift meetings with individuals, foundations and corporations
  • Solicit and secure major and mid-level gifts
  • Identify and research donor prospects
  • Cultivate new donors and build relationships with current donors
  • Work with NPRI’s leadership team to build and implement a viable fundraising strategy
  • Coordinate and track direct-mail program
  • Coordinate special events
  • Write foundation proposals as needed
     

An ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • 2-4 years of development/fundraising experience with a history of increasing donor investments
  • A strong passion for raising funds to promote the principles of individual rights, free markets and limited government
  • Willingness to make the “ask”
  • Strong writing ability
  • Highly organized
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust strategies on an ongoing basis
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to work as a member of a team

NPRI Transparency Researcher Internship

Position Description: The Transparency/Policy Researcher will participate in an ongoing government-transparency initiative being undertaken by the Nevada Policy Research Institute. He/she must be extremely detail-orientated and organized, be a self-starter and have the ability to manage and follow up on hundreds of public-records requests. He/she must have a positive attitude and be willing to go above and beyond to finish the job.

Recognized as the leading free-market voice in Nevada, NPRI’s primary areas of focus are education, fiscal and labor policy, with the goal of advancing free-market principles in each. NPRI’s internships are unpaid.

Responsibilities:

  • Make hundreds of public-records requests
  • Add requests to a detailed spreadsheet to ensure that records requests are being tracked and followed up on as needed
  • Conduct professional correspondence with government officials by phone and email to obtain requested public records
  • Review public-records requests to ensure that all requested data is provided
  • Data entry

NPRI Development Internship

Position Description: The Development Intern will assist the development team at the Nevada Policy Research Institute with prospect research, meeting set up and event planning and execution. He/she must be extremely detail-orientated and organized and be a self-starter. He/she must have a positive attitude and be willing to go above and beyond to finish the job.

The Development Intern will work out of NPRI’s Las Vegas office.

  • Research and build profiles on donor prospects
  • Research and find contact information on donor prospects
  • Conduct professional correspondence requesting meetings with prospective donors for NPRI’s development staff
  • Provide logistical planning and support for NPRI events
  • Update direct mail spreadsheet as needed
