I am so SMRT!
Higher education is facing budget reductions that will still leave the system with as much money as it had in the 2005-07 biennium – a period in which UNR spent over $30,000 per pupil and UNLV spent over $16,000 per pupil, and neither university graduated more than half its students in six years.
Unfortunatly, supporters of ever-increasing spending on higher education want to paint opponents of increasing taxes and funding as “anti-intellectual” or “anti-education.” Frankly, there is nothing “intellectual” about blowing $30,000 per pupil and failing to graduate half your students on time.
Using money more effectivly is smart. Spending more money to get the same results is not even s.m.r.t. … Take it away, Homer (see the video above).
